Pop-Up Support series

Join one of our Lilac Tree Staff for a one-time interactive Support Group type discussion focused around a topic or title or stage of the process. These are 1 meeting only, support-based interactive group meetings, and are limited to 8 or 9 attendees. Facing separation, trekking through a divorce or embarking on a new life after divorce can be a challenging, isolating, and sometimes vulnerable period in your life. Lilac Tree offers shelter and respite. We offer a compassionate, safe, and supportive environment.

We offer support groups for every stage of the process: 

• Contemplating OR In the Process of Separation or Divorce

• Navigating Life After Divorce Series (a mix of support meetings and informal conversations with professionals)

Our Lilac Tree Support Groups are peer-based support groups, facilitated by one of our Lilac Tree Counselors, all with years of experience in relationship breakdown, separation and divorce (and more).

Finding community, friendship and support from other people at the same stage of the process, facing similar challenges can be empowering, and provides a safe, supportive, positive environment from which to learn and grow. This is your moment to empower yourself, learning to seek and receive peer-based support.

We offer Support Groups regardless of gender identity, however, each group is single gender. Below are groups currently filling.

A new monthly drop-in / pop-up type program for those already divorced or fully separated, or feeling ready to face what life after divorce will look like.

• These groups are meant for those who are finished (or almost finished) with the legal elements of their process and now facing a new stage of life.

• They will focus mostly on the emotional elements of navigating a life post divorce or separation, creating your new identity, developing boundaries as a co-parent, taking care of yourself, finding new passions, focus and friends, managing a single household budget/finances and any other topics you need.

• You can attend any meeting you want, as many meetings as you want, when you want.

• Let us know if you would like a specific topic and we will try to arrange that!

• MEETINGS:

  • Will always (*except during holidays) be the 1st WEDNESDAY of the Month

Group Requirements

What is important to us, is that you access the support you need, and join the right type of group for yourself.

To join any group, please call us and talk with Amy, our Intake Coordinator, or Julie, one of our Divorce Counselors, at 847.328.0313 or discuss during a Personalized Information Session appointment with one of our counselors.

SIZE & START DATES

Virtual Support Groups are limited in size and vary depending upon the length or topic of the group. Start dates are expected and only finalized when the group is full. All groups are run via Zoom and are managed by a Lilac Tree staff member or volunteer supporting the counselor when possible. All Zoom rooms are waiting room enabled, start on time and regular attendance is required, as rooms are locked as the meeting begins.

COSTS

Costs vary depending on length, size, and topic of the group. We are always adapting to client needs and ideas and we vary groups and thus costs. In general all meetings are $45, and payment is expected before the start of the group, but can be split into 2 half payments (commitment payment and 2nd payment).

Commitment Payments are $180 to secure a spot in a group. Fees are payable in installments, one to secure your spot in the group, a Commitment Payment, and the second or third is due before the start of the group once a start date is confirmed. Typically this means there’s a few weeks in between each payment. Payment plans or fee assistance can been arranged - just ask! Our Ila Chaiken Scholarship Fund offers partial fee assistance for each group on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that we are unable to issue refunds, even for Commitment Payments, once a group start date is confirmed and communicated to a group, unless the space is able to be filled before the group begins.
